I am a Registered Psychotherapist in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). I meet the CRPO’s criteria for offering supervision.
I have been practicing psychotherapy for 12 years. Most of my clients work with me through developmental, relational and systemic/institutional trauma, relationships, identity and transition, grief/loss and more.
The frameworks I use are trauma-informed, and grounded in relational (interpersonal/intersubjective), process-experiential, and somatic (sensorimotor, yogic) practice within a critical psychology perspective that centers experience, meaning and identity within systems of power and oppression.
The supervision I offer is experiential and reflexive. I work with you to access different ways of ‘knowing’ by listening to the stories, ideas and images that form in a moment of being with clients or thinking about them, the bodily and felt sense that accompany these, the way we experience talking about the client together, and how these might echo or reflect what the client faces in their world. I listen closely to how traditional, ancestral and cultural knowledges about health and suffering that are important to you and your lineages shape these ways of knowing. I also listen to how structural power and oppression might silence or marginalize these ways of knowing, including in our work together.
Working in this way helps us to select and customize therapeutic interventions that resonate with you and your clients. It also develops practices to help you navigate specific issues that arise in safe and effective use of self; interpersonal and psychological boundaries; ethical dilemmas; impasses; vicarious trauma and more, in a way that best aligns with you. This creates a consistent reflective space to help you establish, restore or nurture your preferred identity and practice as a counsellor or psychotherapist overall.
I supervise students as part of graduate practica and internships; counsellors/psychotherapists who are just getting started post graduation and are seeking registration with various associations in Ontario or with the CRPO; as well as experienced counsellors/psychotherapists seeking to redirect and or consolidate their practice.
